About

We are Flor and Marco, partners in life, family and business. Originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina, we created Flor. Coffee + Books as an extension of our roots, our home, and the way we believe life is best lived: with intention, curiosity, and genuine connection.

At Flor, we bring together food, coffee, books, and experiences designed to help people slow down and reconnect—with themselves and with one another. Everything we do is grounded in our core values: authentic connection, digital detox, thoughtful and respectful communication, and food that nourishes body and soul.

Flor is a sanctuary where literature, culture, and well-being meet, a gentle escape built around the simple pleasures of a delicious cup of coffee, a nourishing meal, a great book and good conversation.

Co-owner Carola Mandelbaum curates our books and experiences, bringing together contemporary literature, standout international and Spanish-language titles, and voices that move across cultures. Her curation extends beyond the shelves to Flor’s gatherings and programming, creating experiences that invite discovery, conversation, and connection.

More than a coffee shop or bookstore, Flor is a place to linger, discover something new, and feel part of a community.

  • Flor is open Monday through Thursday from 7am to 5pm, Friday from 7am to 6pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 8am to 6pm. Hours may vary on holidays, so we recommend checking our Instagram for any updates.

  • Yes, Flor has gluten-free and vegan-friendly options. Items like Chipás and Parfait Bowls are made without gluten, though we cannot guarantee against cross-contamination. Vegan options include Oatmeal Bowl and Parfait Bowl, and dairy-free milk alternatives are available for all drinks.

  • Yes, Flor has options for guests with nut allergies. Salmon Toast and Breakfast Plate are made without nuts, though we cannot guarantee against cross-contamination. We recommend letting our staff know about your allergy when you arrive so we can help guide your order.

  • Flor serves a rotating selection of authentic Argentine pastries and food made from traditional recipes. Our menu includes Medialunas, Vigilantes, Alfajor de Maicena y Pepas. New items are added seasonally, often guided by the astrological calendar — follow us on Instagram to stay in the loop.

  • Yes! Flor is both a café and a bookshop. Our upstairs bookstore features a thoughtfully curated collection of books in English and Spanish, with a special focus on international literature, contemporary Hispanic and Latin American authors, fiction in translation, poetry, nonfiction, and books for young readers. We also carry a selection of beautiful editions, gifts, and literary finds.

    You can browse and purchase books in-store. And if you’re looking for a title we don’t currently have on our shelves—in English, Spanish, or another language—just email us at carola@flor.coffee. We’re happy to special-order it for you whenever possible, and most books arrive at Flor within 2–3 days for pickup.

  • Yes, you are welcome to bring your laptop and work from Flor. We offer complimentary Wi-Fi, and outlets are available throughout the café. We ask that you not use laptops at the communal table so it can remain a shared space for conversation and connection.

    Weekends at Flor are laptop-free throughout the café—our way of creating a more relaxed, analog space to read, catch up with friends, and enjoy your coffee. For the best work-from-Flor experience, we recommend visiting on weekday mornings or afternoons.

  • Yes! Flor has a spacious outdoor seating area where you can enjoy your coffee, matcha, pastries, or food. It comfortably seats around 30 people and is open year-round. Dogs are welcome, too.

  • Yes! Flor is dog-friendly. You’re welcome to come inside with your dog to place your order and enjoy your coffee or food on the first floor. Dogs are not allowed on the second floor unless they are service animals. Dogs are always welcome in our ouydoor seating area!

  • Flor hosts Thursdays @ Flor, our weekly lineup of events ranging from book clubs and astrology nights to mahjong, book launches, game nights and other analog gatherings. We also host Tuesday Movie Nights one Tuesday each month. You can find our full calendar and reserve your spot here.
